Eye tests can be scary at the best of times – and more so for your little ones! Your child’s development depends heavily on their ability to see clearly.

Vision impairment can seriously affect their cognitive abilities in reading and writing.

Testing their eyes early, can help catch and treat and conditions which could be damaging to their learning. The sooner a problem is found the sooner your child will be able to receive the right treatment.

There are a number of different tests that can be used to check for vision problems in babies and children.

  • Red Reflex Test
  • Pupil Reflex Test
  • Snellen and LogMAR
  • Attention to visual objects
  • Range of movement tests
  • Refraction test
  • Colour Vision Deficiency test

Look out for:

  • Eyes turning in (squint)
  • Rubbing their Eyes a lot
  • Watery eyes
  • Poor hand-eye-coordination
  • Avoiding reading/writing or drawing
